The first floating solar photovoltaic Plant on water surface was operated steadily in Hunan Province, China.

The installed capacity is 100,000 KW, and the annual power generation capacity is 125 million KW hour.

After the plant was debugged nearly five months, the performance of the first floating solar photovoltaic power station on the water surface in Hunan Province, China - Datang Huayin Yiyang Beigang Chanhe 100,000KW PV power station, has steadily improved. Up to now, the total power generation capacity has exceeded 30 million kwh, and the power generation capacity has reached the design value. PV on water surface has obvious advantages in policy and environmental access because it does not occupy land resources and it is now in the ascendant. "With abundant water resources. numerous lakes and reservoirs, Hunan owns the advantages of vigorously developing photovoltaic on water surface." Wu Xiaobin, deputy general manager of Datang Huayin Electric Power Co., Ltd., introduced that as the largest power generation enterprise in Hunan province, China, we have vigorously developed clean energy in recent years. In order to fully tap the province's high-quality scenery resources, it is planned to build a million kilowatt photovoltaic power generation project on water surface in the area around Dongting Lake. Yiyang Beigang Changhe 100,000 kilowatt photovoltaic power station is one of the first projects put into practice and power transmission.

The reporter recently saw on the bank of Beigang Changhe River in Sihushan Town, Yuanjiang City that 280,000 blue photovoltaic solar panels were laid neatly along the river course and there was more than 2,000 mu of feeding fish returning to the lake in idle, forming an 8-kilometer long solar photovoltaic array. The view is very spectacular when shining in the sunlight. Chen Weibin, manager of the cost general office of the engineering construction department of Datang Huayin Electric Power Co., Ltd, said that the water level of the Changhe River in Beigang fluctuates about 1.5 meters annually and the sunshine is sufficient. So, it is the ideal water area for the construction of photovoltaic on water surface. With the help of floating foundation platform, the photovoltaic floats on the water relatively fixedly, which does not damage the water environment and is conducive to the ecological protection of the water area.

The reporter learned that due to the photovoltaic coverage of part of the water surface, the evaporation capacity of the Beigang Changhe water area decreased, and the growth of microorganisms in the water was inhibited, and the water quality was improved. At the same time, the floating photovoltaic power station on the water surface made full use of the cooling effect of the water body, which can solve the cooling problem of photovoltaic equipment. And the power generation efficiency is about 5% higher than ground photovoltaic system and roof distributed photovoltaic system.

It is estimated that the project can generate clean electricity about 125 million kwh every year on average. Compared with thermal power, it can reduce the annual emissions of 721 tons of sulfur dioxide, 1083 tons of nitrogen oxide, 100,000 tons of carbon dioxide, and save 540,000 tons of water.
