The Prospect And R&D of Floating Photovoltaic Power Stations

This news is going to talk about the questions which are to be considered about R & D of the floating photovoltaic power stations on the water surface in China.

1. As an important floating pv mounting system of the floating photovoltaic power station on the water surface, the floating pv mounting system is an important link related to the normal operation of the whole photovoltaic power station. At present, the whole life cycle of photovoltaic power station is 25 years. The floating photovoltaic mounting system must have good corrosion resistance, low density, frost resistance, wind wave resistance and other characteristics to match it.

High density polyethylene (HDPE) is used as the material of the floating photovoltaic mounting system in Hyogo County of Japan. It is odorless and nontoxic. And it has excellent low temperature resistance and can withstand the most acid and alkali corrosion. It is insoluble in common solvents under normal temperature. It owns small water absorption, good electrical insulation and good dent resistance. However, nitric acid and sulfuric acid have a strong destructive effect on polyethylenes.

They are easy to burn and will continue to burn after leaving the fire. They are prone to photooxidation, thermal oxidation, ozone decomposition and degradation under the action of ultraviolet lights. Therefore, we can try to use the profile which is more resistant to the light oxidation, thermal oxidation and ultraviolet light than the polyethylene. We also can try to enhance the above defense performances by coating on the profile so as to make the floating mounting system more durable. Then, the service life will be longer.

China is the country with the richest bamboo resources, the largest bamboo forest area and the largest bamboo output in the world, which is known as the "bamboo kingdom". There are about 3.3 million public bamboo forests in China, accounting for more than 30% of the world's total output. The bamboo output accounts for about 1/3 of the world's total output, which is not available in Japan for the construction of floating photovoltaic power stations on the water surface. In the pursuit of green and low-carbon economy nowadays, the bamboo is low-cost (after rough processing of bamboo, the price is 1, 000 yuan/ton, which is about 1/6 of the polyethylene). Besides, the bamboo raft made by the bamboo is lighter. The buoyancy is larger accordingly. However, the average service life of untreated bamboo rafts is only 2 or 3 years. If bamboo products are treated to make them have better corrosion resistance in water, the cost of photovoltaic power stations on the water surface will be greatly reduced.

2. The suitable site selection is the key to ensure the success of the test. The test can be carried out in lakes and reservoirs in the calm climate zone of the mainland. For example, Jinsha River has the characteristics of abundant and stable runoff, low wind speed, good light conditions and good development conditions.

3. The photovoltaic power station on water surface can not only realize the grid connected capacity, but also can be used as the distributed energy storage photovoltaic power station to provide power supports for the aquaculture, scenic tourism, ecology and other aspects. As the distributed off grid energy storage power station, the selection of energy storage equipment is the key, and it is particularly important to select low-cost and high-performance batteries.
