Advantages of Floating Photovoltaic Power Stations

China's first floating photovoltaic power station was built in Yunnan. Compared with Japan, Britain, South Korea and other countries, which have successively settled floating photovoltaic power stations, China started later. At present, Japan holds the record for the maximum output of floating power plants. However, with the development of the industry and the progress of technology, it is believed that more and more domestic enterprises will start to get involved in the development and utilization of floating photovoltaic systems.

The 1.7MW and 1.2MW large-scale floating photovoltaic power plants in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, jointly invested and built by Kyocera Co., Ltd. and Tokyo Sunsei Leasing Co., Ltd. were put into operation at the end of March 2015. Meanwhile, the construction of a 1.044 megawatt (MW) photovoltaic plant called DREAM Solar Float 1 @ Shenyushan, which is located in the Kishanwada City of Osaka Prefecture. It started on April 14 and will begin to sell full power to Kansai Electric Power Co in October. Floating solar plants have also been used in the United Kingdom and the United States. However, there is no information about floating photovoltaic power stations in China.

Advantages of the Kyocera large floating photovoltaic power station

1. The floating body platform is a hollow structure, which is convenient for wires to pass through. It reduces the infrastructure and land cost caused by cable trench in the ground photovoltaic power station.

2. The floating photovoltaic power station on the surface has integrity, which is convenient for the installation and operation of the solar tracking system. It reduces the greatly increased cost caused by the installation of a bi-axial tracking system for each panel of the ground photovoltaic power station.

3. The photovoltaic panel floats on the water's surface relying on the floating body platform. Due to the cooling effect of water, the floating photovoltaic power station can obtain more power generation than the large ground power station and the distributed photovoltaic power station on the roof.

4. The floating photovoltaic power station can cover a large number area of water. It reduces the evaporation of reservoir water. At the same time, because of the occlusion of sunlight, the formation of a larger projection surface inhibits the growth of algae to a certain extent. It is conducive to water pollution prevention and control, but it will not affect the aquaculture industry.

5. The floating PV mounting structure is 100% recyclable. They are high-density polyethylene, UV resistance and corrosion resistance.

6. The surface power station is attached to the water body. When the typhoon comes, it can float with the water body to avoid damage and resist the invasion of the typhoon.

7. The floating photovoltaic power station relies on the water surface to reduce the occupation of farmland, woodland, grassland and other lands.

8. The power station can be assembled by the shore and water transport. It is convenient for installation.

9. The surface photovoltaic power station is in the water environment. It puts an end to dust and other solid adsorption, realizes the real sense of no cleaning and reduces the cost and electricity loss caused by cleaning photovoltaic panels.
