A Small Part of a Japan 7.55MW FPV Project Overturned


A part of one 7.55MW floating photovoltaic project in Japan overturned due to Typhoon No. 9.152 panels (41.8kw) were damaged because of the overturning of the floating photovoltaic mounting system and the photovoltaic panels installed on the floating PV mounting system. "It is very likely that the water level exceeded the designed water level and the anchorage system was broken. Then, the overturning happened."

On September 8, according to the Nikkei BP News Agency, the 7.55MW floating photovoltaic power station in Kawashima Town, Saitama Prefecture, Japan, was damaged in the strong wind and waves caused by Typhoon No. 9 on August 22. 152 panels (41.8kw) were damaged due to the overturning of the floating photovoltaic mounting system and the photovoltaic panels installed on the floating photovoltaic mounting system.

The photovoltaic power station in the disaster area was built on the surface of the agricultural reservoir managed by the land improvement area of Kawashimamachi, and it was connected to the grid for power generation on October 26, 2015.
